5.1 White Spaces

White Spaces was the Singapore Pavilion exhibited at the Seoul Biennale 2017. The structure was a lightweight 3D grid of thin bamboo poles. Conceptually, the mesh filled the 6.5 × 3 × 3 m room into which an inhabitable void was generated between the access doors (Fig. 5.1). Bamboo was chosen for its associations with South East Asian architecture, its environmental properties, and its low weight.
